How it fights
A predator fights like something that has done this before and expects to again. It opens carefully, watches what you do with the first exchange, and commits only when the answer suits it. Nothing about it is overwhelming and nothing about it is forgiving either: it will take any opening you leave, and it is patient enough to wait for one rather than make its own.
Field notes
The goblin kinds live where nobody else wants to and make the best of it, and the best is better than it looks: dug-in, warm, well watched, with a way out at the back. They raid at night and along known ways, and they leave a lookout on the way home who is small and bored and the first thing you will meet. They quarrel loudly among themselves and go quiet all together when they hear a stranger. What they take they carry back, so the trail runs both ways.
