The Sundered Span

The leaping fight over the fire: hold the centre, or bring the enemy's pillars down into the magma.

A field of stone platforms suspended over a lake of magma. Two sides start at opposite ends and fight to hold the centre for points; destroy an enemy pillar and its whole section crumbles into the fire, gone for good, shrinking and isolating the enemy’s ground and dropping anyone standing on it. Movement is a leap from platform to platform, and you cannot leap onto what has fallen.

The grounds

  • the Embercrag: 7×5 platforms, 3 pillars a side, up to 4 supporting soldiers.
  • the Sundered Span: 11×7 platforms, 4 pillars a side, up to 6 supporting soldiers.
  • the Ashfall Abyss: 15×9 platforms, 5 pillars a side, up to 9 supporting soldiers.

Two ways to win

Raze every pillar of a side and their footing is gone; they are eliminated. Or out-hold the centre on points when the bell goes. Lighter on soldiers than the other two battlegrounds and quicker on its feet: pillar wardens and a few skirmishers, and a fight decided by where people choose to stand.

There is also a raid of the same name on the Overworld; the battleground borrows the ground and the name, not the boss.
