Where the Scourge Turned is the old capital's last field, the plain where Vashen's mustered strength met the dragonkin and the war's verdict came down, and the dead of that field are rising in ranks now, answering nightly to the muster of a war that ended in ash. They form by companies, dress their lines, and wait, under Morvath's darkest sky, for an order two generations unsent. The wall captains post their richest bounties here and the culls change nothing: the field refills by night, rank on rank, and lately, the watchers say, the ranks stand faced not toward Ashfall's walls but away, toward the west, as if the muster waits on an enemy the living have not seen yet.
