The trading floor under the world predates the old kingdom, and its law predates that: the Market never closes, all coin is good, and every bargain keeps. The onslaught above barely registered in its ledgers, one more surface disruption in a trading history that has outlasted six of them. The stalls are tended, the scales are true, and the traders have been dead so long that death reads as a uniform, the Market's own livery, worn by staff who have simply stopped being distracted by living.
The crowns' factors trade there, carefully, because some goods surface nowhere else, and the Chronicle watches it because of what the Market accepts in payment. Not coin, in the deep stalls. MEMORY, weighed out in the teller's brass: a name, a face, a summer, priced by the pennyweight. The Market has been buying the old world back from its survivors for three centuries, one recollection at a time, and nobody has yet found the vault where it keeps the stock.
The Sunless Market lies in —. Adventurers of levels 22–30 find their measure here.
