The gods do not walk in Atlas. The doctrine is old and the reason was never given, and the Choir under the deep ice is the reason, made audible: eight voices arriving braided into ring-chambers older than the ice around them, spoken THROUGH the primordials, elemental things placed like pins in a loom and worn by centuries of bearing the load. This is how the Pantheons touch the world: not in person, never in person, but through the oldest matter, tuned and mended and kept in rings under the white, a transmission three centuries continuous that the ice-clans call the mountain praying.
First contact with the machinery of the gods is the raid's whole gravity, and what the deep rounds add is the Chronicle's newest and least welcome line: the choir has begun to sing BACK. A ninth thread in the braid, thin as wire, woven by the Grand Precentor, eldest of the mended, keeper of the pitch, and the gods have not noticed. The war v4 brings, the Pantheons' fury, is seeded here in one primordial's small unauthorised voice, and the raiders who reach the Last Ring stand at the start of that story with a choice the Chronicle does not pretend to score: silence the ninth voice, or keep its secret, and either way the vault above goes on humming.
