Three ways to be unseen, and an answer to each.
THE SHADOW. hide tucks you into cover in the room you stand in; sneak is a walking pace, slower and quieter. A watcher rolls to notice you (its keenness against your stealth), and a hunter that fails the roll lets you prepare, or open from cover with an ambush. Some things do not roll: wolves, cats, hawks, spiders, snakes, bears and their kin, hunters by nature, see through cover outright. DETECT SHADOW (Necromancer and Druid, level 12) gives you the same nose for five minutes.
THE SPELL. INVISIBILITY (Mage and Thief, level 9) takes you out of sight for a minute and a half: an ordinary eye does not list you, does not target you, does not rouse to you. Some eyes are not ordinary. The unliving and the spirits, demons and the celestial, aberrations, elementals, constructs, dragons and the fey see the invisible as plainly as anything else. DETECT INVISIBILITY (Cleric and Mage, level 12) gives you that eye for five minutes.
THE VEIL. A Keeper unseen is not any of these; nothing you cast finds them, and that is by design.
EVERY WORLDLORD SEES BOTH WAYS. There is no creeping up on a worldlord and no fading from one; the largest things in the world are also the most awake.
