Denizen

Elemental

A humanoid figure formed entirely of one element, its edges dissolving back into it.

How it fights

A caster is dangerous at a distance and considerably less so once you have closed. It spends the opening of a fight making the ground between you expensive to cross, and if it is allowed to keep that distance it will simply keep spending. Reaching it is the whole fight. What happens after you arrive is usually brief.

Field notes

An elemental is its own weather. It is met where the element is strongest, in the flame, the flood, the storm and the deep rock, and it goes back to that when it is done. It has no face to read and no habit to learn, only a shape the element takes for a while. The edges are always moving. When it is quiet the element it came from is quiet, and that is the only warning it gives.

Where it is met

Met in the Forsaken Road, the Thaw Bloom, the Deep Meltway, Razed Waste, Waste of Scoured Country, the Splintered Needle, Split of Crack and the Forgotten Vault, by travellers of levels 5 to 40.

What it leaves

Worth hunting for the fire brand, ice brand and lightning brand it leaves behind, when it leaves anything.
