The Stalls and the Sideshow

Chests, the raffle, the hunt, the writ, the ring, the dash, the labyrinth and the regatta.

The four contests reward a week of serious play. The stalls at the edge of the ground are the other thing a festival is: ten minutes, a small stake, and back to what you were doing.

The stalls

  • The chests: fifteen chests, one prize, 15 favour a try. Pure chance, and the stall everyone tries first.
  • The raffle: 10 favour a ticket, 20 tickets at most, drawn when the festival closes; a pack of what a low-level character actually needs.
  • The scavenger hunt: a list to find at three difficulties, level-scaled so it is worth a veteran’s time and possible for a beginner.
  • The writ: not a game. Buy one with favour and trigger a realm-wide bonus (experience, gold, crafting or gathering) so the festival reaches the players who could not attend.
  • Summer, the ring: spar a festival shade of yourself.
  • Harvest, the dash: run the crumbling span.
  • The Riddle Gate: an endless labyrinth beneath the ground; three gates a depth and one is true, and it keeps one rule the whole way down.
  • The Wayfarer’s Run: a regatta across the world map by charts with no coordinates; six legs in an hour.
