The old world, kept as somewhere you can still walk.
Before Eldermere there was a world here, and it faded; not fell, faded, the way a road grassed over is still a road to anyone who knows the shape of it. Six thousand rooms of it survive whole, hand written, in the layout somebody meant, and they stand today as THE REMEMBERED: the world as it was, reached by a rite rather than a road.
THE RITE. The way in is the VEILED ARCH in the inner sanctum of Ysvane's great temple on Kelda, out on the Crack, an arch of nothing in particular standing where no arch was built. Her deeper chambers open by devotion, not by level: a Devout of Ysvane and above may reach the Reliquary and enter arch. You arrive in the old world's town square, the place the old game called home; back (also kelda) at the arch on the far side returns you.
WHAT IT IS AND IS NOT. The Remembered is a historic ground to get lost in, and it is meant to be: its exits are the old ones, one-way chutes and trapdoors and all, sealed only where a visitor would be stranded. It has no graveyards, no bind points, no bank, and it is closed to shipping; die there and you are carried back through the portal to Kelda. Nothing of Eldermere is built inside it and nothing of it is charted, because nobody sells a chart of the past. World bosses never walk there. And it is not idle: the orbs in the Hall of Aspects have begun to stir, and the Remembered Door, a raid at a ruined gate-town in the Auldmere hills, is where the far side of the rite has started to stand ajar on its own.
