Spindlepost

Spindlepost is the post by the Spinning Dark, a bind point and a fire in reach of the underworld's strangest ground, and it is deliberately no more than that: a waystation the deep roads' wardens keep so that nobody faces the Dark's approaches cold, unfed, or unwarned. Its keepers rotate, its log-book is continuous back to the founding, and its one rule is posted over the fire in the wardens' plain hand: EVERYTHING THAT SPINS SLOWS EVENTUALLY. THE DARK HAS NOT. DO NOT GO TO LOOK. The log-book's margins, generations deep, record how many readers took the rule as advice and how many took it as a dare, and the counts explain why Spindlepost keeps spare bunks.
