How the world reads on your screen is yours to set.
prefs lists every preference with what it does; prefs <number> toggles one, prefs <name> reads the full note, prefs <name> on or off sets it outright.
DISPLAY. Lines per page (0 sends everything; a client with no scrollback wants a number). Space out messages: line puts a blank line between messages so a fight reads, divider adds a rule above each room name as well, off wants neither. Colour on or off, and the reading theme (help colors has the palettes). Brief rooms show a room's name and exits and skip the prose you have read a hundred times. Screen reader flattens the frames for a reader. Map radius (default 4, so a 9 by 9) and map while travelling, which draws the map as you cross the wilds.
THE FLOW OF THE WORLD. Sky and moon, weather, monster sightings and town bells are each their own switch, so the ambient lines you do not want are the only ones you lose. Battle report prints the round-by-round tally; auto-loot takes what a kill drops; bestiary notes and favour notices tell you when the record grows.
PEOPLE. Accept tells (off, and nobody reaches you privately; see help friends for the finer control), and whether the website names you on its boards.
