Fishing is a minigame, not a timer.

cast, wait for the bite, reel to set the hook, then work the fish through several stages of struggle. Pull wrong and it throws the hook.

Your rod is a hard gate on what you can land; bait biases what comes. Twenty-eight fish across the level range, and the good ones fight.
