What you have killed, and what it taught you.
bestiary is your record of every creature you have fought, ordered by how many you have felled; bestiary <name> is the entry for one. It SHARPENS WITH EXPERIENCE. The first fights with a kind tell you almost nothing, and the entry reads as a rough SIGHTED estimate; from the third the figures firm to ESTIMATED, and from the tenth they are RECORDED: hit points, threat and experience read true, and the record keeps your wins and losses against the kind, its level and archetype.
WHAT A CREATURE IS MATTERS. A spider's bite impairs, a scorpion brings adderbite, a dragon's breath carries wyrm's bile: fifty creature families carry a signature drawn from the same poisons an alchemist works with, and the family also decides what a thing can see (help detection).
THE DECK CONNECTION. A card is a record of a creature you killed (help cards): named zone leaders drop their own about one time in five, and a world boss or worldlord drops its own and nothing else does. When a card stands beside a creature in the world, it means that creature is one the deck knows, and killing it is the way to the card. The Winter festival's Bestiary Reckoning scores the breadth of what you have catalogued.
journal is the wider record, your whole career in the world: levels and their pace, experience earned and lost, kills and deaths, fights won and fled, spells cast, skills used, things made and gathered.
