A GUILD is a trade hall, and a CLAN is a company of players. The two words are not the same thing here, and the game keeps them apart on purpose.
The crafting guilds stand on Guild Row in every settlement that seats one: the Blacksmiths' Hall of Caer Vaneth, the Tailors of Karan Reach, the Cooks of Karan Wharf, and the rest of the seven professions and their gathering trades. Stand in a hall and type guild to see what it teaches: train raises the trade, learn takes a recipe, buy tool outfits you for it. A trade is learned at its guild and practised anywhere.
A clan is yours to found, charter and lead: a treasury, a hall, a roster, wars and standing. That is help clans and the clan command, and the herald of the hall in any kingdom's citadel.
